Diaoyutai State Banquet
¡¡The menu for this state banquet is a classical one of Diaoyutai, combining the elites of cuisines in North and South China with the finest of the East and the West. The Spicy Squid's Eggs Soup in Steam Pot originated from Shandong Province, in its refined form, is milky clean and yet full of flavour. The Beef Steak with Mushroom Sauce, a Western dish adding Chinese cooking arts, is fragrant and appetizing. These courses are coupled with city-style Prawns in Potato Nest and island-scented Bird's Nest in Coconut Milk, and are supple-mented by Pea Paste Cake, a sweet of the ancient imperial court, and Radish-Shreds Pies, apopular snack for the town folk. The Assorted Chafing Dish, symbolic of harmony,abundance and enthusiasm, assists to promote friendly sentiments at the banquet.
